Leicester Tigers Head Coach Dan McKellar shares his thoughts on the 19-10 victory over Saracens at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in Round 11 of the 23/24 Gallagher Premiership.
A powerful performance by the Tigers pack and a stout defensive display sealed the win, which certainly pleased McKellar.
“We spoke last week about playing for the full 80 and we most certainly did that this week,” McKellar said.
“Our DNA was all over the performance and in front of another big crowd here at home, we knew we would have to hang tough at times against a good side and we did that.
“There’s areas there we need to tidy up, particularly handling errors in score zone but I thought we exited really well and controlled the game in that second half.”
McKellar didn’t shy away from the importance of the last period of Premiership games and Tigers now look forward to back-to-back Investec Champions Cup fixtures against La Rochelle and Leinster.
“We’re It was important to get a result tonight and we’ve just got to keep chipping away and picking up points and what happens with the table will happen off the back of that,” McKellar explained.
“To beat a team of Saracens quality in the manner we did, you have to be happy but we’re not satisfied and we’ll get into Europe now against the two of the best teams in Europe over the last couple of years knowing we’ve got to continue to tidy up areas of our game.”
